While eating my dinner, I was watching Yours Truly, Asia-an insight in China and Maria Siow was talking about Deng Xiaoping. I didn’t know he contributed so much to China, he was the one who established the Cultural revolution right or was it Mao Zedong? It seems as though everyone became rich and the economy strived under this reign. I watched a lot of people paid tribute to him and visit his hometown. I am sure such a History figure would have some flaws just that they never publicise his wrong doings.. This show is a propaganda! I think Mdm Chan will be enthralled if she watches the show! Since when did I become so interested in History?
Today was really an exciting day!
I went to school for Gavel meeting and Dance. Though I was very tired, I enjoyed every bit of it! We waited so long for Mrs Toh today but she did not turn up..
While waiting for her, Charles had to assist the police in a theft. A girl apparently stole wallets openly from the library’s shelf where we place our bags and Charles happened to be at the scene of the crime. He was first made to identify the girl then the police came to take down statements and pictures of the scene of the crime-the library. I asked him to go to the library to get me some biscuits cos I wasn’t in uniform but he came down from the library with the police and Major Tham instead and …
He said: that’s the girl! That’s the girl! (pointing to me)
I: What did I do? I just asked for biscuits, is that a crime? (*raising up my hands in a surrendering manner)
Major Tham: Oh! So you are the girl who wanted the biscuits….*in mock anger
I: That’s me alright!
Crazy.. as if I can’t eat! Anyway there was so much drama..
Then Wanting called me and told me some very funny stuff that she read on the net.. I was shocked but I expected it.. hahahaha
I proceeded for dance practice. We did not even do warm up before the dance, the instructor just went directly to do a choreography. Mr Daniel came and asked us to get more people because we have only 6 people now so cannot go for SYF. Anyone wanna dance?
Latest news: Next year Dance club is going to lead in the mass dance and hopefully, as Mr Daniel requested, a fixed dance that we will teach the students and teachers, and that dance will be danced at all occasion, Aces day etc. So it is going to be like a TPJC dance.
I also found out about the Malay culture during dance. This month they have to fast and if they can't, they have to make up for it some other days. That's something I never knew. They also slaughter cows and sheeps in the mosque for blessing, I think. Then the flesh from the sacred animal is to be divied and given to the poor (malays). hmmm... the beliefs of the various ethinc groups is indeed interesting! It is really amazing how we have evolved and follow traditional practices in the past...
I was really exhausted after the dance. Not only was the music fast-paced, we had to collapse on the floor many times and get up quickly. This is the art of dance, presumably! The part I like most about the dance is when the instructor incorporated the shimmering of the shoulders, my forte! ;-P Whoo hoo!
