Steamboat

Yesterday, daijing, sarah and I were supposed to watch Pride and Prejudice before meeting Jie Yin for steamboat. But we got the screening time wrong so we didn’t watch it.

We walked the entire Plaza singapura and I ate my first herbal tea-leaf egg from Eu Yan Sang. The egg was black but it actually tasted quite good.

Daijing and Sarah keep saying I am such a mountain tortoise since I have never eaten the herbal egg before. I was brave enough to try it ok?

Daijing was limping throughout because she walks and stand too long when she works. So this is the after effects of it.

It was so boring trying to kill time while waiting for jie yin, of course! We went up to basement 1 then down to 2 and up again.

All of us were so tired. We keep asking each other where to go next. But I got to eat the tako balls.

Finally, when we reached Marina bay..
This annoying old man, that daijing and sarah keep saying was ‘attracted’ to me, kept bugging us to eat his steamboat. The last time we tried his already so this time we thought we’ll try something new.

We went to the Zheng fa steamboat first without jie yin because we were all tired and wanted to sit down and she was still at work. Upon reaching there, we found out we had to cut and wash a live crab. Arghhh! Sarah and I didn’t know how to, so Daijing took the motherly role in cutting and washing for us. Haha.

There were live prawns too and they were jumping about in the container. Sarah was so petrified. When Daijing was about to put it into the soup by holding its filers, the prawn suddenly flapped and in it jumped into the hot soup. I thought it was trying to bring forward its own death.

My prawn was done on the hot plate. It keeps flapping and struggling on the hot plate. One side was orange and the other side was still grey. But it was still alive. I could see it trying to breathe. Oh I killed the poor prawn.

I was a professional prawn peeler. Sarah was damn good, she ate her prawns without getting her hands dirty. She ate the least. She ate 4 prawns and one small tiny crab pincer that she took from daijing’s crab because Daijing was saying her crab had one pincer missing. Jie yin came and she kept asking daijing to cook for her.

Half way through dinner, someone from the next table screamed and I saw a prawn flying and hit a woman’s head before landing on the floor.

Lucky prawn escaped the pot.

Got home around 9.30pm.
