The bus ride..
Yesterday, when I was on the way home at 10pm, this plump china lady sat beside me in the bus, I recognise her because she lives just the opposite block and she has this unique set of plastered-on features. She looks scary. Every time I see her I always feel so nauseous. Here’s why…
One night, I decided to rest my eyes by looking out of the window, a fierce and violent fight was all I saw. My eyes were fixed that unit. The graphics were all so clear and it seems like it was part of a movie. She threw something at the guy (later I found out that he is her son), the guy pushed her away and she slapped him. The fight continued from the bedroom to the kitchen. I held my breath hopping she would not lift up one of those knives around. Instead, she lifted a folk and stabbed her son on the arm. He went into the toilet and she continued screaming and shouting in Mandarin. The neighbours was puzzled over the commotion and decided to check. Slowly and cautiously, they crept up the stairs to her unit and somehow they went back to their own house without a confrontation.
Those were the graphics that remain etched in my mind and it would constantly be played once I bump into her. It makes me nauseous, that’s why I’ll avoid her as and when I can.
Sat, 10pm..
Now she plants herself hastily beside me. I can’t possibly avoid her, anyway she doesn’t know who I am or where I live, that was a consolation. The moment she sat down, Weeee! and off I ‘flew’ off my seat. Knowing how heavy she is, she should as least sit down gently. Suddenly, I feel as though I am on a see-saw and a plump kid siting on the opposite side. Picture this.. A skinny, bony child and a plump kid on a see-saw.
I couldn’t wait to get off the bus, it was intimidating sitting next to someone so violent.
Sunday..
I went to the beach with my cousin and Auntie.
We had a great time playing Frisbee and eating. My mum and her sister, my auntie joined in the game. They couldn’t catch the Frisbee though.
On the way back, I was robbed or rather deprived of a seat. You know those 4 seater kind on the bus? My cousin and I sat comfortably occupying our own rightful share of the seat. Then this group of women and their kids came to squeeze with me. Don’t they know what a 4 seater is? A 4 seater became a 7 seater. Somehow, I was sandwiched in between two rather plump women. Don’t you think I am unlucky these days? I have decided not to seat anymore. As long as I reach my destination safely, I would be grateful!
The day ended with a hearty meal at Fish & Co. All of us are full and happy, including me.
