Chingay Parade..
An exciting week has ended and now it is time to blog..
16th ..
I am sick. My head is heavy and I feel drowsy. I didn’t go for assembly today. This morning, I rested my head on the table and Mr Tan CB came by and asked if I was playing hide and seek. Hahaha.
Miss Mak did not come today but Mr Mak visited and gave a talk about some drama stuff. He came across as being quite sincere and understanding. Mimi’s stalker (long story, I think she just thinks he is weird) was constantly being praised by Mr Mak and was invited by him to go on stage to laugh. Should have called me, I would laugh like hell. Hehe. His story about getting a little car for his child who was stricken with some illness somehow gave me the idea of a small cute chubby child cuddling up in a corner. I wonder why?
Anyway, after that we had our learning journey to the Singapore River Museum. It was boring. We had to be detectives and find out the victims and murderers. It would be more fun if we had more time. Since the excursion was only one-way (my clever classmates wanted it), we had to make our way back home ourselves. I can’t believe we walked from liang court all the way to city hall MRT. Totally unbelievable! It seems like a mile away. Everyone was tired.
18th..
Finally the Chingay preview..
After school, I went home to change before meeting Daijing. When we got there, it started to rain. We were given pink t-shirts and had to change in make-do toilets. I like the pink t-shirt. Because of the rain, everyone ran to a small tent-like shelter. Hundreds of people squeezing like sardines. If there was an epidemic, I think everyone would die. We had to eat our McDonald dinner standing up and within our own standing space. How I wish I had 8 legs like the octopus. I had to carry a water bottle, a box of Macdonald food, a burger and open up the Chilli sauce.
Immediately after the rain, we were sent to our respective sectors to cheer. The Chingay started and I was craning my neck to see the parade. I took some photos discreetly too. Kim Ng’s hair was very big and that made her head look bigger than her body. We had to do the YMCA and Daijing merely bounced around instead of jumping and dancing. All ended at 10pm and we were only allowed to leave at 11pm. We manage to catch the last train. By the time I reach home, it was 12.40pm. I ate some cakes and went to bed at 2pm. That is probably my breakfast already.
19th..
Actual day of the Chingay…
We met at 12.30pm to have lunch. We went long john to eat. I used a lot of serviettes and I ended up using Daijing’s. She wanted to keep it but I used it up. She was screaming like hell in mock anger. Then during the Macdonald dinner, I used up Daijing’s serviettes again and Qian Yin used up half of her packet of tissue. She was so irritated, she wanted to squeeze ketchup on me. I didn’t use up my ketchup and I kept it in the Chingay bag. I have a feeling it would come in handy. I went over to the VIP sector. The view there was the best. We had to form a barrack in front of the reporters and cameraman, making sure that they don’t cross a line. We even sat in front of them so they don’t cross over. The view was spectacular. We were so close to the performers that we can even touch them. I secretly took out my camera and started taking photos. Jeff wang even posed for me to take a picture. The I-weekly reporters took a picture of Daijing, Qian yin and I..heheh
Who knows during the Chingay, performers started giving out angbaos with sweets and souvenirs inside. I got a badge and a packet of sweets, the hosen float then threw rambutans at us. Daijing wanted a sweet and so I cheekily slide a ‘sweet’ into her pocket. It was actually a packet of ketchup..Hehe. She didn’t realise until it was time for us to go home. During the whole parade, I kept throw confetti at her and she threw it back. After the parade, it was time to party. Hehe.. I was on TV. The cameraman took me dancing crazily. Mimi was the first to sms me telling me I was on TV.. then Xiao Ai called to say she saw me and so on. It was so cool! Everyone was dancing even a pregnant lady. Daijing loves throwing confetti so much she threw it at strangers. A crowd gathered to watch some Angmoh man and an Indian man dance a very sensuous dance. Nearing the end, a girl fainted.
The SRJC students are like party animals. They are so spur on to dance and be part of a party. I never see such stuff in TPJC. After cheering and thanking everyone and all the organisers, we had to do the most dreaded-evaluation. I didn’t have pen with me and I decided to punch holes with the badge, the most primitive method of doing things, and after that most of my group did the same thing.
11.45pm..
We missed the last train and had to take a cab back.
