The passing of Pope John Paul II
Pope John Paul II has died. This news left me distraught. I woke up early this morning and watch Channelnewsasia on insights on the Pope before I scurried to church. We mourn his passing but we rejoice his new life in heaven. It is finally time for him to receive his rewards he so richly deserves. No doubt his death drove many to tears.
Alle, alle, alle, alleluia.
We often take for granted those who are alive. No one announced what great deeds he did or how he instrumentally changed the world when he was alive. Now that he is gone he becomes so famous, news flash, tributes and condolences start to pour in. What use of it now? It is an irony when people start praising those who are gone and they can’t hear it. If only the Pope can make a trip to his only funeral and see how many people are saddened by his death. Today I realised he was the one who curbed the spread of communism and brought the Cold War to an end. Did you ever know? I didn’t know about this before.
I will start cherishing the people around me, even if they play an insignificant role in my life. Hehe! >_< It is times like these when you get an awakening call to reflect.
I was holding the lift for about 15 people in church. As they march out of the lift, almost everyone said thank you to me. It is this kind courtesy that people like me and you overlook. Never mind it is pardonable. Singaporeans really need grooming in social etiquette and that includes me.
In church, I was sitting with Auntie Margaret. She was so funny when it was time to join hands. She held my hand and said my hand is so soft. Oh! I saw a mosquito flying around in church and I was so paranoid. There is also a new priest from Kenya.
Miss wee’s wedding and Godma’s brother’s wedding is on the same day. I still haven’t decided on which dress to wear. If I wear the silver dress, I think I will be looking like a disco ball.
Just read the forum about the grumpy book shop lady. It is funny but also very mean of them to scold and criticise her!
I mean do they really have to throw their pants at her or to tell her off? Is that what they should resort to doing when a smile isn't returned? But it really scares me knowing that a smile is no longer effective. I shall try smiling tomorrow to test my theory!
Later in the afternoon, I went to my auntie's house. After that we went all the way to Geylang for Claypot rice. Of all place, the notoriously-known Geylang. I had to walk through a frightening alley that would only appear in nightmares. Of course I wasn't alone. It was quiet and desserted and a silhouette cast upon the walls as I hurried passed in small quick steps. Above me, there was a man half-naked peering out of his window. It sure wasn't a memorable experience. Then we went to eat the supposedly famous jellied beancurd.
